A Child of Deserts
March, 1997

Shipwrecked, I stand alone
Lost from the crew.
I, a child of desserts
In search for an oasis
And longing for the dew.

My each night is watery
And each day is dry
I step towards the sound
Hearing a distant cry.

Forgetting the tricks these sands play
Upon ones senses
I step towards the oasis
Leaving behind all my defenses.

Fortified I was in walls of stone
I escaped captivity
And now, I stand alone.

I, a child of deserts
Find it hard to plant my feet
Deeper in the sands
Burnt by its heat
I move forward and then retreat.

I fear nomadic life
I search for my roots
I, a child of deserts
Stand like a baseless tree
On these barren lands.

Shipwrecked on this island
Where I lived and grew
And where after those storms of time
Iím parted from the crew.

I, a child of deserts
Longing for the oasis
In search of my roots
But lost from my crew.
