Untimely Thoughts
August, 1992

Some untimely thoughts, visions and stars
The lengthy maroons… dessert and all;
Seem to conquer me and my mind.
Dazed and blurred,
Hands outstretched – to caress and to touch
I run behind but find
The dark pitholes have come my way.
My youth is not green, it’s rough and it’s gray.

Dizzy lights…. Flash and then stop
But, as someone crosses the narrow street
The thoughts move around the streets of my mind.

They roam, they turn, they wait, and then stop.
I pull back my hands
And try focusing my eyes
Find no one …. a soul, nor a shadow
But unwanted seclusion.

It’s like an endless dream
Which begins and then ends abruptly
And my untimely thoughts overpower me
Now and then.
And again and again.
